DroneTalk is a musical experiment which hopes to document or perhaps shed new light on what it is to be a cog in america's corporate machine. much of what you will hear in the music are words gathered from real conversations, phone calls, and meetings from personal experience in the workplace.
Why this name?
DroneTalk is representational. I've sortof dubbed those white-collar machines as just that... "drones" -- and when they talk, they talk, but what are they truly saying, if anything?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It puts the power back where it belongs.. in the hands of the creator. distribution to a mass audience is no longer an impossible feat.
Band History:
About 6 months ago, I decided to concentrate my frustrations of the corporate world into a musical, artistic endeavor. I needed an outlet for all the negative energy I was feeling. DroneTalk was my project of release.
Your influences?
My favorite bands are Radiohead, Bjork, Aphex Twin.. I draw much influence from the ambient works of Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, and others.
Favorite spot?
There is a spot in my city you can drive to. It puts you at the end of an airport runway. Here the planes fly right over you before they land. It's great.
Equipment used:
The text-to-speech synthesis software was called ReadPlease 2002. My notation was done in CakeWalk with many, many SoundFonts from the HammerSound soundfont library.
Anything else...?
The goal of this work (if it would be so bold) is to give the listener a new perspective on corporate america. perhaps bring them to a thought they have not considered before. maybe it might even help some to question themselves and their life.
