Acoustic whimpsical folk pop. Guitarist/ backing vocalist with 39 Dangerous Street 1987 - 1991.Signed as a solo artist to Splairgin' Glit in 1991. Released five EP's, regular performer on Radio Scotland's "Chiaro Scuro" arts show. Looks set to return to performing and recording following an eight year hiatus. Beset with personal difficulties, health issues, contractual problems and impossible label mates on Splairgin' Glit, Kelvin Gilbert, a sensitive of singer/ songwriters, returns...
Why this name?
Born with it. Or to be more of a pedant, given this name shortly (well a week or so to be more exact) after I was born.
Do you play live?
I used to play live a lot, with 39 Dangerous Street. After I went solo it was mostly folk clubs, coffee houses, pubs etc. I did some radio slots. In the last five years I've only played for fellow patients at Lennox Castle, Gogarburn and Spinbinnie.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Not much. It changes music though, from one format to another.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
After my difficulties with Splairgin' Glit, the label which nearly killed me and led to me being hospitalised and medicated for years I would never sign anything, even a petition to give out free food for the hungry.

Anything else...?
I know its eight years on, but could I still apologise to BBC Scotland for the emotional outburst. I was under a lot of strain at the time, General S and Captain W had kept me up for four days and nights mixing and then remixing my album. They'd suggested I took some stuff to help me concentrate and keep awake. By the third day I couldn't say my name. They just laughed and did horrible things to my music. The BBC sent a car round to take me into Queen Street Studios. That is the last thing I remember, apparently I interupted the evening's reflective, poignant, religious slot. Sorry.
