This music is produced by one person on a laptop with the modern tools of music production. Its music that tends toward the quiet end of electronica: atmosphere with beats.
It's a bit unique in its emphasis on chordal progression and pad movement, often entirely lacking any lead line. In the more successful tunes a melody is implied more than defined.
Why this name?
its a name yahoo suggested in one of my many online identities
Do you play live?
This is a basement composition enterprise.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet allows those of us working alone at night in the dark, the blessed illusion that there might be someone out there of like-minded sensibility who listens, thus satisfying the relationship with an audience necessary to complete the musical experience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would prefer a lucrative contract with a small independent electronic oriented label, rather than a major label, but either one is about as likely as meeting Mescalito in the crowd outside a suburban cineplex.
Band History:
All kidding aside, I read an article in the NY Times that it was possible to stave off dementia, by exercising the brain by learning a language or a musical instrument. Having many years of playing and listening to music and employed in software development, I took the consolidating step of subjecting myself to the continuous learning of the many skills involved in home music production.
Your influences?
most similar to Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Prefuse 73
influenced by a great many from Motown, British Invasion, psychedelic rock, folk rock, alt rock, punk rock and the synthesizer truly coming into its own
Favorite spot?
I like Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania, the desert and pine in Arizona, the reefs in the Caribbean, the northern prairie and boreal forest.
Equipment used:
I use an Edirol midi controller on a laptop computer packed with a wide assortment of synth and effect software. I have my favorites, like rhino and Absynth, but that may not really mean much to the wider world. For a host and hosting I use Cakewalk products, FLStudio and energyXT.
Anything else...?
thanks for listening
