why call yourself startle b?

embracing reaction: when shaking or insecuring the newborn´s base or through dropping its head the vestibular nerve becomes activated and initiates a programmed sequence of action.

the "b":
electrophysiologically our sleep is divided in severals stages:
the awake- or a stade is followed by a sleepy or dozing stage. This stage is also called the b-stage and is characterised by slow eye movements. The EEG shows relatively low and slow activity. During this stade myoclonus or sleeping twitching occurs.
