During the past few years the Dutch metal band Barata has grown into a dynamic and well-oiled machine. They invested in the future and now it is time to show these investments.
The band is anxious to tour throughout Europe and there is no doubt that they are absolutely ready for it. With over a dozen of great songs, a new lead singer and a killer live sound you really cannot miss them.

An overstatement? Time will tell. The band has proven their talent already. The various demo´s have all been well received by the press (Aardschok, Music Maker, Live XS & FRET as well as various foreign webzines). The latest demo was released in September 2002 so now the time has come to start with the pre-production for a full length record.

Their music could be described as metalcore. Or thrash? Or just metal? Blasting metal riffs are being followed by groovy beats. Their specific drums add a funky vibe to the music. Although the band rarely uses any clean guitars, they manage to keep their music interesting and dynamic without getting boring at all. By varying with blasting and catchy melodic riffs every single song is interesting from start to end. Furthermore the aggressive lead vocals make the songs point out of the ordinary.

Their sound? Well, fortunately you cannot compare Barata with any major metal act. The various metal and hardcore influences make that impossible. But here are the possible ingredients;
Start the mixture with the basis; Sepultura. Add a large piece of Machine Head and a bit of Slayer. Then add a little Biohazard and for dessert a coup de Soulfly. Thát´s what we call Barata.

The band is known for their brutal sound and energetic performance on stage. Over the past few years the band played several shows in well-known Dutch clubs (Bibelot, Melkweg, Baroeg) and they intend to soon add a large number of shows to their gig list. The kind of metal Barata plays will also definitely appeal to the festival public and therefore the band can be easily added to the European festival bills. The band already played the Dutch festivals Trailerpop (Rotterdam) and Bkbeats (Delft).

To put it briefly: Barata is a powerful and dynamic metal act with a killer live sound and an energetic stage performance which makes the audience bang their heads off during the complete set.
