We are "Heter O Genius"!
Welcome to the world of "HOG"!!
Why this name?
We decided upon the band name "Heter O Genius" due to the fact that it described the band, the sound, and the members so well. The term "het·ero·ge·neous" literaly means: (adjective) consisting of dissimilar or diverse ingredients or constituents. When we started playing together, it was very clear that the chemistry was going to work. However our musical styles and influences were so vast and different, that taking all of these diverse ingredients, and making them into an exciting and unique whole was challenging, but fun. The end result is a style of music that is very difficult to define due to the variety of flavor involved in it. It is sort of a "melting pot" of music. The other reason that we went with our name is because of the ethnicities of the band members. We have, black, white, and mexican, members of the band, making not only our music "heterogeneous" but our band as well. We look at "Heter O Genius" as the name of our band, but as a description of who we really are.
Do you play live?
Yes we currently are gigging all over Denver, CO.
We love it, there is nothing like the fans. Without them we have nothing. To pick just one special moment would be to tough. We love every moment that we get to entertain our fans.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
There is no question that the internet has completely and totally changed the music industry. With the emergence of the ability to download music, bands and the music they create are instantly given the ability to tap into a worldwide market. It is a new revolution in the history of music, and an exciting one to be able to participate in.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably

Your influences?
Our music is so difficult as I described in the lengthy paragraph of how we picked our name, but it has the feel of everything from: Barenaked Ladies, Guster, Santana, Police, Dave Weckyl. It goes from alternative to funk, to latin to rock to reggea. There is something for everyone in our music. We always recieve the same comment from our fans, which is "I never get sick of listening to your music, because every song is different. It changes so much, that it always keeps my attention". Try it out, see what you think.
Favorite spot?
