Why this name?
J$ decided that it should be "Speak" which evolved to "Speak In Phrase"
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Record companies are finally realizing mp3 as a valid form of music purchase. Music on the internet can help expose you to many new influences. The internet can also help new artists get their name out into the music community.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but only if the music is left unchanged and the band's creativity isn't impressed by the label. The label should understand their role as distributer for the music.
Band History:
Electro White Male - Starting drums shortly after the Y2K terrorist bombings that were totally invisible, EWM's career took off like a 1942 prop plane. He double basses whenever he can and he has many pieces on his set. He sits most of the time when we're playing and he does things with sticks and makes noises that sound like "POP" and "SLAM" and "BOOM."
J Money - Beginning guitar in October, 2002, J$ has extended his skill beyond the reach of midgets with stilts. He thinks he's allergic to cheese, but no one else does. Also, he has too many fenders.
Cof - He only began playing guitar in October of 2003, but Cof picks up rhythm lines like he's played guitar for a longer time than he hasn't played guitar in the recent past. I can only assume he practices, because he takes his guitar home. I've even seen Cof with cables and a tuner, so I can't think any less of him than I already do.
E Pill - Clearly the most intelligent in the band, because he uses proper grammar and spelling, E Pill plays bass like no one else, except people that play like him (by him, I mean me). E Pill has recently purchased a 6 string bass and a powerful amp that kills people, both of which kick the crap out of your mom.
Hal - Hal's mystical singing past started in Narnia during an adventure with one of the local centaurs. He sang to the centaur's amazing lute-playing some time in 2002. Having imitated his mother and called in sick, Hal crept into his closet and entered the portal to Narnia. His centaur friend was off to slay a dragon and needed a singer. Hal proudly sang "Immigrant Song" to lull the beast and stabbed it in the face. Currently, Hal is working with speak in phrase as resident lyricist and singer. He likes singing in bathrooms into microphones. We just assume it's a fetish and do our best to ignore it.
