Mandee has been playing piano and singing since she was old enough to reach the keys. She grew up in a very musical home; her grandmother is a professional organist and her mother played in a gospel band, The Glorybound Singers, throughout Mandee's childhood. Musical theatre was her pastime of choice in school, playing roles as diverse as Annie, The Witch in Into the Woods and originating the role of Vita Sackville West in Aphra, Where Have You Behn? After graduating from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland with a B.A. in Art History, she moved to West Virginia and began seriously songwriting. After four years there as a "starving artist" she moved back to the "civilization" of Maryland.
