ONE SLACK MIND is a thick, detuned, body shot to the solar plexus, doubling you over with the gravity of its nasty riffs and original hooks. ONE SLACK MIND, comprised of several DC rock veterans, is steadily touring the mid-Atlantic amassing a fan base and distributing their music to the glassy-eyed masses.

Why this name?
I did a freeform thinking exercise, trying to come up with "play on word" titles. One Thick Pony, Crash Helmet Special, Black Male, etc. One Slack Mind was the one the rest of the band liked.
Do you play live?
We play live all the time. We play from New York to North Carolina, mostly with bands we know. We love playing live, especially when we have no technical difficulties (dig at our guitarist- hehe). One of our cooler moments was at Jaxx(Springfield, VA) when we got a whole crowd of people to tie caution tape around their heads and get into the pit and mosh like mad.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Everything is so instantaneous now. If you want to hear a band or find out about a band you can do it by just typing in their name.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I dunno about that. We are all veterans of big regional bands. We have 7 kids between us. We all have good jobs that pay WAY more than a fledgling signed band would make. We have degrees and business experience so we just started our own label and are looking to get national distibution for our band and some other bands that we believe in. I am under the belief that you shouldn't allow someone to do something that you could easily do yourself. Too many young bands have managers for this and booking agents for that. Lazyness is not a good reason to have an extra hand in your pocket. All you need is a good lawyer, in my opinion.
Band History:
This band formed from the ashes of the heavy DC/No. VA band, NO SaNER and the Viginia band, SAC. Rich Wilson, frontman/bassist of Jagermeister juggernuats, NO SaNER, continues the frontman duities but hands over the bass to Herman Carter of Virginia metal prodigies, System Demise.

The band is sponsored by Jagermeister and Randy's Rolling Papers.
Your influences?
We like Black Sabbath, Clutch, Tool, Kyuss, Incubus, Meshuggah, etc. I have no idea who you would say we sound like. Listen to the MP3's and email us with your opinion.
Favorite spot?
Dale City, VA
Equipment used:
Our guitarist plays through 100 watt Sovtek guitar heads(2 of them). He uses a Morley Wah and a Morley Volume pedal. He plays a 1973 Gibson SG Custom.
Anything else...?
Any bands within 6 hours of Washington DC that want to trade shows should email me. I love trading shows and we book over 50% of our own bills.
