An Epic Standard
NEWS
An Epic Standard will most likely be playing at the EV Free church in Paradise on new years eve (5095 Pentz road). Come rock out with us there. We will also be playing a Church dance in Chico in either January or February. This will be a great show with a garenteed big crowd. In preparation, we are learning a few covers and polishing off our acoustic set. Stay tuned-and be informed that as this is a church dance, if you wish to come, come dressed Modestly and Snazily! (This is not going to be a bland little acoustic thing. We are playing some acoustic stuff to make our set bigger but it will most deffinetly be a rockin show!!!!)

An Epic Standard is a local three person band from Paradise, California. The members are Sean Martin (Guitar, Vocals), Derek Haigh (Bass, Vocals) and Marcus Hardy (Drums).
Why this name?
We looked through a dictionary and found a bunch of kool words and combined a few of them that we liked to form "An Epic Standard". Our goal is to try to keep a shot above the standard "emo" scene with emphasis on stage presence, musicality, and overall musical enjoyment. We have also recently started expanding our song vocabulary into acoustic versions of already existing songs and strait acoustic pieces. Hopefully, some of these will be posted here soon.
Do you play live?
We have the sickest shows if you ever come to one you will be in awwww. Many people say that Sean and Derek are in the air more than on the ground. We mostly play...anything give us an e-mail if you need us to play in the Paradise Chico area.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it helps because it allows new bands (like us) to spread our material. It is the wave of the future...rather than shunning the internet, we think the music industry could be greatly improved if they'd embrace it totally.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Um...lets think...yeah. Depending on which on and on how badly we would be screwed over monitarily...
Band History:
We sorta came out of another band called Potential Defect. Derek and Sean wanted to play a different style with a new badass drummer named Marcus (he doesn't like to brag and he did NOT write this).
The Band had a fairly successful time over the summer, and has continued to practice and develop. Each member continues to grow-what is in the future?

Equipment used:
Cheap stuff...cept for Marcus' drum set and cymbals...which he incidently spent way too much money on...see his bio for a gear list.
Derek has a fender rumble 100 and a fender standard percission bass
Sean has a nice fender half stack and Yamaha Guitar.
We also just recently started to incorporate some piano to our songs and to a few covers. A Casio WK-1830 keyboard is used for this.

We just recorded a six song EP "Everything Counts", these six new studio recorded songs are now up here at our soundclick site.
We just finished recording one of our best acoustic songs. We don't know if we are going to realease it quite yet- the song is called "Butterfly Smak"
