Multi-Racial was born in the basement of Keith Kettmann, during the winter of 2001. It started as a slew of acoustic dittys with such names as "I Once Had A Penis." The next step in the evolution of the band was in the form of drummer-turned-guitarist, Owen Crist. Next was bassist Scott Cornelius. This line-up never played a show. Scott was replaced with Nick NuDelman, and this line up played a total of 2 shows before Nick was replaced with Les Aron on Bass. This line-up played several shows all around St. Louis, until Les decided to leave in September of 2003. He was replaced with Paul Brackens, and a keyboardist was added. His name is Jesse Gibson. Then in May of 2004, Keith left the band due to unknown reasons. He came back, only after Paul was asked to leave the band in July. Jesse then moved to bass. Which brings us to today. Multi-Racial are preparing to record thir first L.P. entitled "Multi-Racial." A tour is in the works.
Why this name?
Owen coined the phrase while on our way to a gig. It seemed to describe us perfectly, so it stuck.
Do you play live?
We used to play live regularly, but as of late, we have taken a break to perfect out material, and try to perfect our live show as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it gives the unknown artist a cheaper way to distribute their music, rather than CDR's, and no one owns tape decks anymore, so that kinda sucks.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If all the stipulations were right.
