Why this name?
Chu Dogg

Now, allow me to introduce myself... My name is Chu Dogg, the origin of that is from various family members who gave me that name when I told them I was rapping. It comes from my name Jes?s, which the nickname is "Chuy" and so you take away the Y and add a Dogg, and there you go! But it also means something, something I learned very young. Contemplating Hate U Do Only Guarantees Grievance, simply put "Don't F***in' Hate!!" Because, filling oneself with hatred, whether its yourself or others, it'll only manifest hatred and grievance FOR YOU. So love, is the key. We all got our faults and falling from grace time to time, but aye, we are all here and with or without you knowing we're all blessed one way or another.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Changes it drastically when you're talking about selling your music especially when you're singed, understand me? When you're set up with a record deal the last thing you want is to lose sales in your albums, you know? But as a way to come up... Its f***in' great! the only thing is, how to get heard, and get a buzz going so that you can get that deal or if you want to stay independent, to get a good sized fan base. But for the most part its a double edged sword in my opinion though, understand me? Its a great way to come up, but to stay up, just gotta change the ways to actually make money out this industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely! Is you stupid!?!
Band History:
Chu~Dogg n tha game since '99 mothaf***az.

Lemme tell you how it go....

It all started in the summer of 1997, I was 11 years old and first really learned about poetry. I wrote my first generic poems in a creative writing class which were not worth mentioning or keeping as they where limericks, haikus, and such. But I gained that interest in rhyme, so I began writing. I wrote poem after poem, with no bounds no structure, just rhymes and feeling. It wasn't until the summer of 1999 that I was inspired, to write my first rap song, or verse to be exact and it was pure garbage! I threw it away and I started digging through my collection of rap, listening for hours just trying to find a direction, listening to content, style, flow, and structure. I just began to write and recite all throughout 1999, figuring out song formats by myself and listening to instrumentals being able to pinpoint where the verse began and where the chorus ended. You gotta imagine, I did as all other rappers before me had done, I had no mentor to show me how to rap, there was no internet advice or wikipedia articles of how to do it, unlike now, how its become a f***in' circus any stupid asshole can "learn" how to rap. Anyways, I did all that, until 2001 when I got myself a four-track, tapes, a mic, and a f***in' boom box, then I started recording from there and still haven't stopped.
Your influences?
Oh Wow! What a mothaf***in' question money... Uhh... I gotta divide 'em up in categories I guess ight... STRAIGHT UP! Would be 2pac, Snoop Dogg and most of all Cypress Hill that straight up and down influenced me to even start rappin', you know? They influenced me to make something outta my poetry. LYRICALLY! Its uhhh gotta be Rakim, Nas, Jay-Z, Chamillionaire, Eminem, and Xzibit. And LOCALLY! Gotta be Messy Marv, San Quinn, Andre Nickatina, Guce, U.D.I, 11/5, Cold World Hustlers, R.B.L Posse, Cellski, Bailey, and Don Toriano. And yeah mayne, these be all the artist that influenced me to get at this rap sh*** mayne, furreals. And, also I wanna note that the order I mentioned peoples or the categories and shit, don't mean shit, ight.
Favorite spot?
San Francisco, California
Equipment used:
My mind, Notebooks, pens, The Net (getting beats: Good lookin' 2 all the producers who make their sh*** available to niggas like me by the way) and of course to patch it all up, my janky ass mic which is f***in' great! And Audacity to lay down the tracks.
Anything else...?
So I invite you to listen not just "hear" because anyone can "hear" garbage, but to "LISTEN" is to understand and to feel... So come and feel my heart, mind, and soul. From my troubles, to my triumphs, my anger, my joy, my lust, my romance, my dumb bullshit, and my deep intellectual observations... Its all me... I am the ONE and ONLY Chu Dogg... Witness greatness at its greatest. -Chu Dogg
