Why this name?
That's my name!
Do you play live?
Yes but not very often, unfortunately. I mostly do opening acts for TUBULAR BRAIN (http://www.tubularbrain.fr.st/) and clinics/ showcases.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet is, in my opinion, both a drawback and an advantage for the music industry. In my case it's an advantage since it's the only way people can listen to my music!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yeah!
Band History:
I was born in Clermont-Ferrand, France, on June 13th, 1979.
I started playing guitar at the age of 12 and began taking lessons in my local music school, in Vichy, at 13.
My teacher helped me understand musical theory that is to say melody, harmony and rhythm before getting into chords and scales.
At the age of 13 I also started playing in two different bands: EXPRIM and DEVILSPOON.
EXPRIM: The members of this band were all from the music school "VMA" in Vichy. With the help and sponsorship of Gérard Fayet (teacher and manager of the band), we did many gigs all around the region. We only played cover songs of famous singers or bands like The BEATLES, DIRE STRAITS, PINK FLOYD, TOTO, JOE COCKER, VAN HALEN, DEEP PURPLE, GARY MOORE, etc...
We made a 4-track cd called "Demos 96".
DEVILSPOON: This band was more a group of friends playing for fun. We played original tunes and lots of covers, from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SEPULTURA, METALLICA to MEGADETH, MR BIG, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE , and loads of bluesy-jazzy-funky jams (with touches of reggae, country music and of course heavy metal) on stage. A hella a good experience!
In 1997, all the members of both bands being dispatched all over France for studies, I spent my sparetime teaching guitar and of course improving my skills (with the help, among many other things, of the videos by Ritchie Kotzen, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Chris Savourey, Vinnie Moore, Michael Lee Firkins,...).
I've also in a band called "Ze Froggiez" from December 2001 to July 2004. We played standards from the 70S (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Tina Turner, Creedence,... + more recent stuff .
In August 2003, I released my first "real" instrumental cd: DEEP INSIDE.
I'm currently working on my second album which will be a concept album with vocal songs and a few instrumental tunes.
