My CD "I Won't Apologize", recorded with Danny Parks on guitars and mandolin, is now available on my website http://ruthgreenwood.com or on CDBaby at http://cdbaby.com/rgreenwood. And various songs are getting airplay on FM and Net stations in the US, Canada and Japan! (Tonight I'm recording a promo for Shonan Beach FM, a station near Tokyo...a station ID in my best broken Japanese!!)
I am, most of all, a songwriter, loving anything anything creative, honest and bittersweet. I've had songs recorded in New York and Nashville, on national TV and on a #1 album (ok, that one #1 or in the Top 5 all across Europe, on RCA)... Play occasionally at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe . Will be back there in April and also at New York City's Bitter End on 4/23.
My song "Wish I'd Known" was chosen as one of 10 finalists in the Country Division of the USA Songwriting competition, and my song "I Won't Apologize" was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Nashville Song Search contest.

Why this name?
It's a given. Actually, what you're hearing here are some older song demoes, some sung by me, others by great demo singers including Dave Brooks and Butch Baker
Do you play live?
I used to perform a lot, both solo and with bands, on both coasts, but now it's mostly for writer nights in Nashville.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It lets me, for instance, be friends with a songwriter from India...lets our music travel at the speed of light...lets us audition without anyone knowing we're sweating...lets me meet and stay in touch with many more people.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure. Have your people talk to my people. Hope to release a CD later this year.
Favorite spot?
One? You must be kidding.
Anything else...?
I love ASCAP.
I also teach songwriting to students nearby and online.
