Barachem is a christian producing 'trance', essentially harmonious melodic house.
Why this name?
It was the beginning of 1999, i was praying with a group when i thought the following 2 sequences of 3 words:
Barachem barim annta.
Karutio dara do.

I still don't know what it means, but in the summer of 200 i adopted Barachem as my artist name, because it sounds quite compelling.
Do you play live?
I don't play live, yet.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that the big music companies with the big name artists screw artists and consumers alike, bring out too much crap and concentrate too much on initiating witch hunts against the illegal sharing and copying of 'their music' instead of reducing music prices and distributing tracks individually so consumers can put together their own compilations.
This only fuels the illegal copying and sharing of music, which has flourished through the presence of the internet.
Also legal sharing of free music has taken quite a flight and i'm sure if people realize what this means for them, they'll switch more and more over onto the legal sharing of free music and maybe a part is ready to pay a reasonable compensation for quality music.

But i forsee a bright future indeed for small atrists on the internet and in their neighbourhood, where there are no big bullies in the form of big music companies and where the income is more directly in the form of gigs and the more direct selling of their music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only if the rights to the music remain mine, i get enough money and further if there are no hidden snares in the contract.
Band History:
Barachem started out calling himself so in 2000, but his interest in music dates back to 1994.Since summer 1999 Barachem began fooling around with FastTracker II, a good shareware dos program made to make producing music on the pc easier. This lastet until summer 2001 when he switched over to ModPlugTracker, a Win95/98/2000/ME based program with superior qualities. It took Barachem 3 years to come from kiddy NES tunes to compositions with a touch of professionality and it should be noted that composing music is only a hobby next to being a christian, studying physics and having a social life.
Your influences?
There are many influences as regarding to artists, you could say that every track i hear influences my music, which therefore is quite diverse.

In terms of musical styles, i'm heavily influenced by trance, or better to say harmoniously melodical house.
There are other influences, like techno, classical music, progressive trance/house and ambient.
Favorite spot?
Jerusalem, i would like to go there for some days.
Equipment used:
A windows based pc with the tracker program MogPlugTracker.
Anything else...?
Barachem was born 15th of may 1977 at Nieuw-Weerdinge in the Netherlands, the first child of four siblings. Many things happened in Barachem's life, some discouraging, some neutral and some encouraging, but one event radically altered Barachem. In may 1994 Barachem was introduced to the christian cult 'The Door' which he regularily visited for 3 months until his parents pulled him out of it.In january 1995 he went with several people to the 'Evangelische Gemeente Emmen', a reasonable pentecoastal christian congregation, which he joined. But Barachem had gotten troubles, thinking that he was three persons and acting like that. Then, it was just sunday the 4th of June 1995, right after midnight, Barachem was at 'Vierhouten 95', a evangelical christian pentecoast festival, when he was delivered from this psychological/spiritiual problem and accepted Jesus Christ, the Messiah of Israel, as his King and Saviour, Who rid Barachem of all the sins he had commited.Since then Barachem has grown and matured in his relationship with Jesus Christ even if he has backslidden many times and is still growing and maturing in this relationship.Barachem's hobbies are reading, conversating, listening to and producing music, walking and playing strategic games (board, pc and console).
