Hello.
My name is Gian (GEE-INN) I am 25yrs old and I am from Nassau, Bahamas. Born, Raised, and still living here. My background was not always filled with music, but my love for music grew stronger as I got older. I grew up listening to Old Raggae Music (Peter Tosh, Uroy, Black Uhuru, Pablo Moses, Christafari, Tenor Saw, Nitty Gritty, Isreal VIbration, Micheal Rose etc.) Bahamian Music (Ronnie Butler, Obea Man, High Voltage (now Baha-Men), and George Symonette), and Soca. Never really listened to hip-hop that much until about 1994. My friend Juan was the one who really got me into hip-hop/rap.
We had those Casio and Yahamaha keyboards with the default beats that I could not get enough of. I never took piano, drum, or violyn lessons, so I was only restricted to playing two notes: a high note and a low note, lol. That was classic to me. Juan was mainly the rapper since he was good at it and I was just playing around on the keyboard. My other friend Kent was with us as well because we did most of our early recordings at his house because his family was really into music and it was their keyboards that we were using at the time.
I started rapping but when I went to college in 1998, my writing passion faded and I got more interested in making beats. I listened to music constantly while I was in college, I hardly watched TV. So when I finished I knew that at some point I was going to get serious into making beats. I did my early work at my boys studio down here called DABEATSHACK and now I do most of my work at home since I have my equipment now. That's about it. Looking forward to having a great time and meeting a lot of people here.

Why this name?
Bandname is a derivative of my own. Been with me since day 1.
Do you play live?
Most of my work is done at home. I build tracks at any given time. Did a few for some of the local artists around here. To me there is nothing better than creating something of your own.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet has changed the Music Industry forever. Changed the way we do music business, the musical creation, and the distribution of music. In my opinion for the better. That way the *unknown* people can have a voice and people can hear and participate in their creative development.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would.
Your influences?
Life, Death, sorrow, misery, pain, love, betrayal, anything that is emotionally driven motivates me, because that is what we are, vessels of emotions. I just love the ability to shape, shift, or change those emotions through sound.
Favorite spot?
Nassau, Bahamas.
Equipment used:
Laptop, Reason 2.5, Wave Lab 4.0, M-Audio Midi Controller.
