John Hazelwood
A Brief Bio
Although I have lived in the Bay Area of California for 23 years, I am a native Kentuckian who grew up on wonderful, traditional country music. I have been writing country songs since I was 15. My songs are honest, heartfelt, tell a story, and elicit emotion - what real country music is all about!
The three songs featured are from my CD, "Where Did My Country Go?" All twelve songs on the CD are originals. Except for "Where Did My Country Go?" where Kelsey Jones and Bill Bentley lent the vocal talents, all vocals, including the harmonies, are me. Bill Bentley played all musical instruments, except for steel guitar and fiddle. Should any of your listeners inquire, my CD may be purchased through www.earbuzz.com, by emailing the address below or by phoning the number below.
Your time and interest are truly appreciated.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet allows access to various types of music to the entire world. For me, personally, it provides an arena to showcase my traditional country songs and to help preserve the traditional country sound.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Perhaps. I passionately value my independence and ability to create the traditional country music sound I treasure.
Band History:
My album, "Where Did My Country Go?" made it to #30 on the independent charts (TopTrax) and with independent radio stations. My album is owned and played in numerous countries including England, Belgium, New Zealand, Australia, India and Canada.
Your influences?
Hank Williams Sr is my favorite male vocalist - his heartfelt and soulful vocals touch every fiber of my being. Patsy Cline is my favorite female vocalist - her soaring vocals grab your heart and soul and just wont let go. Other favorites are Lorretta Lynn, Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, The Statler Brothers and OakRidge Boys.
Favorite spot?
Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park & the island of Maui
