I go by the name"Anubyss", The Jackel. My name is as interesting as my music. My name is play on
the Greek pronounced version"Anubis", which is really in the Khemtic language Anpu/ Anupu
/Anubu, who, according to Gerald Massey,(a well known ancient Egyptian historian), used to be known as "Sut".
As you can tell, the type of rap that I do has a conscious, conscientious, and cultural touch to it.
But it's not overdone. This where the talent part of what I do comes in.
I try to take that which happened in the past and through my music, show how it relates to today.
I chose the name Anubyss b/c of what it represents. According to Sirius Mystery or the religion of
the Dogon tribe, in mali South Africa. Anubis/Anpu/Anubu is the horizontal circle between the light and the dark. He is
the gatekeeper, the guardian, or the watchdog, thus the God. He is also the judgement giver, and
or the sentence giver and the first recorder of the deeds, first begotten of all the God's. Because of
these titles in the past Anubis/Anubu was feared and revered. B/c meeting Anubu meant you were at your
inevitable end. Anubu would read off your deeds and tell you how you did when you were alive on
earth. Meeting Anubu didn't mean anything bad at first. Anubu helped assure passage from this life
to the next according to most of the ancient Egyptian practices. Since Anubu was the first
begotten of the God's he was the first to make contact with the mortals. As mentioned the name
before it was Anubu was "Sut". The name "Sut" was changed to "Sat" as time went on. Sat meant
that which is physical. "Sat" became the word for "seat" as on a throne. Beacuse Anubu as the
name "Sut"/ "Sat" still remained feared he was made into an evil God and not liked. Again, this was
not b/c he was evil but b/c of the reality of what it meant when you met Anubu and the interpretation of the people of the time. Thus the "Sat"
became "Sat -An" or "Satan", that which is made of clay. The taunting and teasing of "Satan" was
actually the taunting and teasing of Anubu or "Sut" saying you better get your act together b/c your
not living right or doing right. Basically you can say Anubu/Anubis/Anubyss was an ancient earlier version of what we would now call a morgtictian( excuse the spelling)
Anubu is represented by the head of a Jackel. The Jackel is a type of dog from Egypt from which
all other dogs today are breed from. It is the original species of its kind. The first and the original.
Thus this is the part of where the inspiration for the name "Original Man Entertainment Group" comes
from.

Back in '89 Anubyss was under a former name. Then he was called G.Live G. he was featured on a compilation Album called "Taking no Shorts" under the group "Too Brown"
Anubyss and his old group enjoyed some mild success and toured locally within the tri state area ;Philadelphia,PA, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Anubyss performed alot after that in various highschools and junior high schools in the Philadelphia area all that year of 1990-1991. He later started reading and studying religious and philosophical literature. And that begin the birthing process of what would soon become Anubyss. Self taught but well learned Anubyss held classes out of his own home on various subjects regarding philosophy, and ancient cultures. But during this 7 year period Anubyss stopped pursuing his rap career to totally dedicated himself to his studies.
During that time though he stopped rapping proffessionally he never stopped writing and rapping amongst colleagues of his. They were very impressed!! It was with a culturial and historical twist Thus Anubis was born. the fever to want to rap again had re emerged stronger then ever. The inspiration for the spelling change of the name was to maintiain more of a mystery behind the idea, not always rapping about cultue or serious topics. It left it open to still be hardcore, gangster, club, street, hip hop, or conscious.
