Double Intent just may be the hardest working high school band around. Their unique sound combines a tight and solid rhythm section with vocals from Yayné McDowell, whose smooth R&B voice harmonizes perfectly with Jaime Gilbert’s husky vocals and creative rapping.
Double Intent practices once or twice every week and when not honing their sound, they are working on new material or performing at gigs.
Avoiding the covers route, they have, ever since they joined forces over a year ago, written their own material, and have a growing list of over a dozen original songs, that are being refined and expanded all the time.
They love nothing more than hanging out together working on their latest song, but performing for a crowd gives them a real buzz and is core reason they got together. Each band member is a committed musician in their own right, and the songs they create are done as a collaboration within the band.
Double Intent is tight both on and off the stage, and this friendship shows in the energy and spontaneity that erupts on stage.

Why this name?
We decided that every thing you do in life, has an action and a re-action, no matter what you do. Two intentions...we created our band name after this: Double Intent!
Do you play live?
Yes. We have played in various places around Christchurch, icluding: Kaiapoi High School, Burnside High School, Town Hall, St. Christophers Church, Creation etc. We LOVE it! At the Coke Smokefree Rock Quest 2004 Regional Finals, we grabbed the majority of the remaining coke bottles out of the fridge on stage!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We think it changes it dramatically. For the good, but mostly for the bad. Sure underground bands get to have their music heard. But when they are stars trying to make a living from selling CD's, the internet ruins it a bit for them.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course.
Band History:
Hahahah...too long! We have done so much as a band. For more information, check out: www.doubleintent.cjb.net
