Dead Poet Society (D.P.S.) is the brainchild of 2 MC's from the City of Hudson in Upstate NY. Reppin' the 518, Fuze & Rip have begun an all-out assault on the rap game.
Why this name?
Upon Rip's return to NY, he reunited with his long time partner-in-rhyme, Fuze. While in Fuze's basement, they decided on the name Dead Poet Society. Although some might think the name is attributed to the movie, the meaning is much, much deeper. After blazing the local scene from 95-99, Rip moved to Fla. People assumed that this was the end of the duo. Therefore, the name Dead Poets represents the the thought of our reign in the game being over. The society part stands for the underground movement we've started that will ultimately become accepted by our society.
Do you play live?
We've done several live shows over the years. Rip blew up Sombrero Beach in Fla. on the 4th of July, as well as a performance in Corpus Christi, TX. that was met with critical acclaim. We were also the first group to perform at the Player's Club in Hudson,NY. Celebrating their grand opening, we were hired to do a 10-song set in front of what was a standing room only crowd. That perofrmance was well received by the raucous crowd on hand. We also performed several impromptu sets at Paulie's and the St. Charles in Hudson as well. In the fall of 97, Fuze and Rip placed 1st and 2nd out of 173 MC's to win a freestyle contest sponsored by Fly 92.3, an Albany based radio-station... their prize? an all expense paid trip by limo to Madison Square Garden in NYC, where they sat 4th row at P.Diddy's No Way Out tour. Currently, you can find the two blowing up the phone lines at Jamz 96.3, another Albany based station. Well-known in the 518, they have been nominated for the Hot Pick of the week a few times with Fuze winning the award on 10/8. Throughout their young careers, they have rubbed elbows several times with established artists. Ma$e, the LOX, Can-i-bus, the Lost Boyz, Skillz and Kanye West are some of the artists they have met.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
(RIP)I don't speak for my bandmate on any questions but on this subject it's like it's good for the dude getting 7500 tracks for his collection but real bad for the one making music and not getting paid. (Fuze)- I think it's good. It allows unsigned artists like us to get much more exposure. As for not gettin' paid, I've yet to see any musicians going on welfare, crying poor due to the internet.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
(RIP) It would have to depend on the circumstances. Although we are all real hungary, so we might just have to wing it.(Fuze) I'd work with anyone that believes in me enough to give me an opportunity. I'm starvin' dog, and beggars can't be picky. Ya feel me?
Band History:
We grew up in the same neighborhood. Kids running from cops, drinking 40's and freestyling on the block. We've been at it since 13, doing talent shows, showing and proving, keeping it real. And as time would pass fate would bring me(RIP)back to my partner in crime, so we trying to really do it big now.
Your influences?
Rip- B.I.G.,Pac,Em,Jay-Z,Jadakiss,Wu-Tang,Nas and the Beatles.
Fuze- Pac,Nas,Jay-Z,Rakim,Shyne,Talib Kweli,Big L and Scarface
Favorite spot?
Fuze -"My favorite city... that's a tough one...NYC and Boston probably... although the hip-hop scene in Albany,NY is pushing close behind. My favorite spot that's easy... that warm, wet spot between a lady's legs!!!"- Fuze

Rip -"I don't know about my favorite spot, but my favorite city would definitely be NYC, I haven't been there many times, but that's the birthplace of hip-hop...so why wouldn't I love it?
Equipment used:
Were using computer based studio software used for multi-track production and recording. Currently we are using industry beats for demo's and albums, we havn't found a producer yet, so holla... Simple Microphone and raw to ya jaw lyrics!
Anything else...?
We won't have to say another word, we let the tracks do all the talking for us. And so without further interruption welcome to the world of DPS.........................................
