Dzyan's unique visionary music is characterized by rich, evocative soundscapes infused with sensuous danceable rhythms.
Drawing on 25 years of guitar playing and composing, he has developed his distinctive sound through the use of alternate guitar tunings accentuated by highly syncopated, irregular jazz-type meters.
His intricate and inventive rhythms, realized through an eclectic blend of ethnic percussion, form the foundation upon which the harmonic and melodic textures are overlaid with acoustic-electric guitar.
In his landmark album, ILUDHRA, he has drawn from myriad international influences ranging from African and Middle Eastern to Celtic and Latin.
Deftly weaving rock, jazz, rhythm and blues and funk with traditional elements, he creates his innovative and highly original musical blend - earthy and hypnotic, yet subtly layered with ancient mystical overtones.
Each piece is a carefully woven spell, crafted with sophisticated thematic development while demonstrating a daring and refreshingly original sense of musical direction.

Why this name?
Adopted the name Dzyan in 1992, after many years of in-depth esoteric studies.
(The name was first used by Madame H.P. Blavatsky in her phenomenal 1888 treatise "The Secret Doctrine", in reference to an ancient manuscript called "The Book of Dzyan".)
After adopting the name personally, it was natural to use it as a professional/performer name as well.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has liberated the music listener, enabling them to hear music from new artists that they would otherwise never have been aware of, and expanded their consumer options by making it possible for them to buy music directly from independent artists.
It has also empowered independent musicians by providing them with a vehicle to publish, promote and direct-market their music to a worldwide audience, extending far beyond the conventional boundaries of the commercial radio market or traditional bricks-and-mortar music stores.
