Virgil Avery is a genre-busting artist who creates a vivid cinematic world of skewed Americana in both his music and computer animations, both of which can be enjoyed on his new CD "An Edge View of Night".
Why this name?
'Cause they call me that.
Do you play live?
I sometimes play in a ghost town called Philadelphia.
Your influences?
Influences range from Johnny Cash to the Sex Pistols, the only common thread is the music must be guitar-driven and have an emotional impact. some other influences are; Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bowie, X, Iggy Pop, Chris Isaak, Rockabilly, Surf, and REAL country music.
Favorite spot?
On a Harley cutting through the warm summer night with the full moon blazing it's cold light, and a set of delicate loving arms wrapped around my torso, and we're headed towards a better place.
Equipment used:
Only real hand-played instruments are used in Virgil Avery recordings, the favorite being a 1963 Harmony archtop with De'Armonds and a Bigsby that's been glued back together about eight times, but every time it gets a little stronger.
