Named after his love of horseracing, Dave Rucinski began Furlong in 1999 (Prozax, Funkus, Mr.Samples) in Murfreesboro, Tenn. while attending Middle Tennessee State. The idea was to start a band that sounded like a Satanic CCR. Playing out regularly, Furlong hit local clubs in Tenn., occasionally performing the Nashville scene. Davids return to his hometown of Louisville, KY, prompted member changes. He met up with friend/keyboardist Kevin Magner (Funkus), and the two have been recording ever since. Furlong also occasionally features Rucinskis longtime friend and bandmate, Andy Matter (The Chocobots, Prozax, The Touched, Redlight Relay, The Hawk), on drums. The band included the song Doomed to Failure on Gubbey Records first sampler; 2001's The Indestructible Gubbey Records Sampler, and received some local press. They also have the song "Ride My Train Of Un-Aggape Love" on the brand new Gubbey Records Sampler. Currently, Furlong is working on a full-length record at Tin Pan Basement and plans to play out again soon
