THE DAMMIT JANETS **NO-FRILLS IRON CITY SHE-PUNK**
Why this name?
It seemed suitable for an all-female punk band. Rachel is a big Rocky Horror fan, too.
Do you play live?
We play out a lot at local venues that support live punk bands: 31st Street Pub, Gooski's, Margaritaville, Smiling Moose, a few others. We love it. Some of us live for it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes very underground music available to an audience who might not otherwise have access to it. Very cool.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Dunno.
Band History:
THE DAMMIT JANETS were spawned by the breakup of Bunny Five Coat in December 2003. Determined to keep the spirit of fallopia-punk alive in the Iron City, the remaining members of B5C immediately set out to build something bigger and better, more tough than fluff. The first few months brought a slew of great shows along with a series of lineup changes worthy of Spinal Tap. For the foreseeable future, showgoers will be treated to the old-skool punk energy of the whiskey-throated, hipthrusting ERICA; RACHEL has stepped out of your grandma's yearbook to hold down the bottom end in four-inch heels; hard-hitting, stick-busting WAYNE is back doing what he does best: bashing the hell out of everything; and the Dammits are pleased to introduce the deceptively sweet-looking NANCY: she brings the riot grrl attitude and the riffage to match. Fans of B5C will continue to enjoy their old favorites - plus a couple choice covers - while the Dammits keep cranking out new material.
