AzTech Rising is an amorphous response to many previous concept-bands that I have produced, usually comprising 1 to 3 other members at any given time. The focus has generally been songs that I have written with occasional contributions from other members.
Why this name?
I think it subconsciously came out of my distant South American roots and heavy techno logical mathematical musical mind-set. There has always been a half of me that creates intuitively and another part that see a beautiful and completely logical and precise aspect to things. So much so that I am convinced that the next note is almost predetermined by the previous ones! (Especially after establishing a sequence of at least three previous notes).
Do you play live?
I am primarily an adventure in my own mind, generally waiting for opportune moments to play live, when conditions and stars align to invite me to play live in a contemporary and focused way. I enjoy it very much but only under certain conditions, Concerto- style where the audience is seated and receptive to a philosophical stream of consciousness that they allow to flow through their awareness from that impossible objectivity one rarely can sustain, but one that remains an ideal in my music.

A lot more detailed information about various projects in-between can be found online, currently at http://www.dreamscaping.com/aztech I think it is close to 50 albums worth of original material at this point, all recorded at various degrees of quality from initial Sound on Sound reel to reel recordings (70s) to Stereo 4Track TEAC stuff (80s) to HI-FI Video (90s) to current MiniDisk MD4 digital stuff and of course Internet Mp3s!

There has only ever been one official release of an album in 1981 called 'Islands in Space' under the name of Light Dreams. This was an acoustic/techno/multi-substance state of the art of music as it tried to satisfy peak moments in a wide variety of altered states. (Surprisingly alcohol was not one of them!)

The album continues to remain at the heart of my dreams and hopes that we can succeed at Space Habitation and I think it shall sound quite fabulous on the new International Space Station... The Challenger disaster took the wind out of it at the time, but as we gingerly approach the prospects of space habitation in this new century I believe that Islands in Space will rise again... like a Pheonix! Into the High Frontier as beautifully envisioned in Gerrard O'Niel's book of the same name...this album was dedicated to that vision.

I will be installing part of the album here for sure! Come back and visit.
And thank you for taking this time and space to interview me and to the readers and listeners for their interest.
Your influences?
Well gee, Beatles, BadFinger, Pop tunes, all the number ones, songs that have been structurally created to enhance perception of whatever the songwriter was attempting to convey.
Strawberry Fields and I am the Walrus remain my favourite all-round conceptually complete master-pieces of the last century.

I enjoy creating my own patches
Anything else...?
Well philosophically speaking, life is like a dream to me, with an emphasis on 'like'. I was born with a huge potential to become Aware, using my sense impressions as tools of consciousness to go out and gather data, live, love and find truth and hopefully increase Awareness from all the perspectives I travel. Stepping back from that stream of consciousness I remain unattached yet immersed in a total and momentary flow of events steaming in and streaming out of my field of view, I grab hold tightly to only this instant and try and make the absolute best of it and then let go lightly as I am overwhelmed by the next swell of impressions and thoughts rush in.

Music is in effect, forced out of me by the accumulated fullness of various points on the continuum of this single moment stretching WAY back in time to WAY forward into the future. I abide in as much timelessness as I can handle and generally meet most deadlines as a result. So what else is there? I continue my journey. Thanks again for stopping by, please feel free to enter my guestbook... an artist thrives and grows on feedback negative or positive but hard as is it is one should never take it personally in this endlessly subjective Universe.
