Since birth, Pastor A.L. Gourdine has been surrounded with music and ministry. Her father, Jimmy Lee Gilbert, is a deacon in the church as well as a guitarist. Her mother, Lila Mae Baldwin Gilbert, was a missionary in the church as well as a prophetess and a dynamic vocalist.
Why this name?
Well, born Annie Lucille Gilbert, and later marrying Keith Gourdine, while taking on the pastorate of The BFP Temple of Deliverance Revival Ministry under the leadership of The Barefoot Prophet in 2000, kind of forced that name and title to be.
Do you play live?
Pastor A.L. Gourdine performs and ministers through spoken word when and wherever the Lord opens a door and gives way for her to walk therein.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
My music is being heard by the masses on a much faster scale than just the traditional distribution and merchandising methods of yesteryear. Don't get me wrong. They are still indespensible, but the internet acts as the "cherry on top".
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Pastor Gourdine is currently signed, as of May of 2004, with Do Love Gospel Records, Inc.
Your influences?
Pastor Gourdine is greatly influenced and highly inspired by her #1 idol, Pastor Shirley Caesar.
Favorite spot?
Alone with God.
Equipment used:
I leave all that kind of stuff to my producer and the staff at DLG Productions, Inc.
