Hailing from "The Windy City" of Chicago Illinois, Matt Minchew is a singer/songwriter with a wide range of talent for both singing and songwriting. Part of the new wave of acoustic rock, Matt separates himself from the competition by putting the focus on his brilliant lyrics, seemingly a self-help guide for "the art of growing up." Deep within the intricate nature of his guitar chords and passionate vocals, Matt writes and sings songs about falling into love for the first time, realizing the finality in giving up a dream and the pressures of moving on and facing a decision. He does this with such maturation and honesty that listening to one of his songs will leave you on the edge of your seat, on the brink of a smile or even tears with familiarity.
Matt first became aware of his talent and passion for music at the mere age of eleven, and since then has worked on honing his craft and nothing else. In 2003, Matt's debut album, "On The Verge Of Something More" was released and quickly rushed to a find a place in the hearts of many adoring fans. With influences ranging from The Counting Crows to Dashboard Confessional, Matt is just that: on the verge of something more, on the brink of becoming a superstar.

Why this name?
Actually, I didn't have much of a say in the matter... =)
Do you play live?
Slowly but surely getting more steady gigs, all of which in the chicago area. Highlight would have to be playing a battle of the bands (against 7 actualy bands) and having the crowd chant my name.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think for situations like this, its usefulness is immeasurable.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the terms seemed suitable, yes, in a heartbeat!
Band History:
Haha... well, I started playing guitar when I was in high school. In summer of 2002 I wrote my first real song (Close Your Eyes) and the ball was rolling from there. Two short years later and I have a CD and a fanbase. =)
Your influences?
Counting Crows; Matt Nathanson; Dashboard Confessional; Brand New; Ben Kweller; Ben Folds; Get Up Kids; John Mayer; Gavin DeGraw; Jamie Cullum; Bob Dylan; The Beatles; Billy Joel
i could keep going, but you get the idea!

Favorite spot?
I had the honor of being able to sing in Scotland... I think that may be the most beautiful country in the world. So lush and open... I loved it. Hopefully one day I'll be able to return with a guitar...
