Ultraviolet Blue play gritty, unrestrained, blues inflected rock and roll with energy, attitude, and a sometimes meloncholic fervor. Bringing to mind influences ranging from The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin and Neil Young to blues, jazz and 80's New Wave Ultraviolet Blue play music from the collective unconscious of shared human experience and emotion. However, unlike many bands, they don't wear their influences on their sleeve. They approach music and songcraft with an open mind and let the music shape itself.

Started in August of 2002, Ultraviolet Blue is currently a 5 piece band featuring Singer/Songwriter Patricia Montfluery - Lead Vocals , Dave Anthony - Guitars, & B Vox, Bobby Wysner - Drums and Percussion, Bryan Swetnam - Keyboards, and Jerry Kelly - Bass and B. Vox.

Ultraviolet Blue has a very high energy stage show fronted by the lovely and charismatic Patricia Montfleury. Her vocal stylings, although truly her own, can be described as ranging from the soft and sultry sounds of Jewel, the jazzy and mellow sounds of Alana Davis, the punky/popish sounds of Gwen Stefani to the Bluesy wailing and emotion of Janis Joplin.
Why this name?
UltraViolet - beyond the range of sight
Blue - moody, melancholy
Listen to the music, it makes sense.
Do you play live?
As often as we can. South Carolina. The New Brookland Tavern, Jakes Bar and Grill, Group Therapy, Crocodile Rocks
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Allows independents to get their music heard by a potentially wide audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, after getting a very good lawyer.
Band History:
Started in 2002 in Columbia, South Carolina, by Patricia Montfleury and Dave Anthony who moved here from Italy and had been performing there as an acoustic duo. UltraViolet Blue features the sexy and sultry female vocals of Patricia Montfleury (who has been compared to Alana Davis, Edie Brickell and even a sweeter sounding Janis Joplin, perhaps because she drinks less Southern Comfort, her favorite); soft and smooth one minute, loud and wailing the next, backed by the bluesy and soulful grooves of Bobby Wysner and Jerry Kelly, with the brilliant keys of Bryan Swetnam, skirting a fine line between Blues, Jazz, and Rock and Roll.
Your influences?
Who or what aren't? But, to be more specific, we love bands like The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, The Stones, Blues, Jazz, The Chili Peppers, Heather Nova, Alana Davis, Janis Joplin, Jewel, Dylan, Folk music, 70's funk and soul, Coltraine, Miles, Hendrix, etc... Crashing guitars or motown R&B? Both.
Favorite spot?
Venice, Italy or the Central Coast of California.
Equipment used:
Epiphone Guitars, Fender Amps, Roland Keys, Drum Workshop and Ludwig Drums, plus Jerry uses so much crazy sh*** I don't know what it is!
Anything else...?
