BEAT JESUS is the latest collaberation between 2 unknowns, DJ Nobody and Kindling Mania. We make IDM/drill & bass/glitch hop type electronic music on our computers. Randy/DJ Nobody masters beats, Robert/Kindling Mania masters melody.
Why this name?
We're sick of the "cash in" of the christ, the blatant glorification of a highly flawed religion for the sake of making money and sedating the masses. We want to wake you up from your collective unconsciousness. We want to wake you up with our beats. We want to BEAT JESUS at his own game.
Do you play live?
no live shows planned any time soon, but we will soon have 2 laptops to work with, if we can figure something out, we'll unleash a sonic assault at an open mic night before we play anything official.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it gives everyone an equal voice again, and returns the music to the musicians, and out of the hands of corporate whores.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'll never get asked anyway, but no.
Band History:
BEAT JESUS is made up of 2 members, Robert Forpahl and Randy Haugland. They both met several years ago as young deviants up to no good at recreation park in Visalia, CA (before the skate park). Robert moved to the bay area in 2000 to go to school, and the 2 didn't see each other until one a few years later at a rave in San Francisco. They realized their mutual love of electronic music and rekindled their friendship. Randy had been so inspired by these events he decided to pick up some turntables and teach himself how to dj, while Robert continued to play with fruityloops up north, calling himself Kindling Mania. A year or so later Robert was forced to move back to Visalia, where Randy was spinning drum & bass and hip hop instrumentals at the occasional house party as DJ Nobody, often getting booed off the stage before the first song was done. Randy grew frustrated with the ignorant attitudes of most of the people he was playing for and didn't want to be just another shitty dj. Robert, in the meantime, had just picked up a copy of Reason 2.5. He had learned the basics of using effects etc with fruityloops, but felt it wasn't enough to really get going with anything serious. Randy's family had just gotten a computer as well, and the 2 began delving into the software, trying to get a feel for it. After a few months of playing half songs for each other and annoying all of their friends with horrible crap, they finally decided to join forces. Randy had mastered some superior beat constructs, and Robert had learned much about melody and mixing, so combined they realized they would be unstoppable.
