Robbie Newman has been playing the local scene since 1998 with a mix of Country Music and Alt Rock.
Do you play live?
I have played a few local venues in the Seattle and Denver Metro Area, or on open Mic night, but I have not tried to persue a larger audience. It's a lot of fun to play my music live, as I get to meet some interesting people, and to know they're there to hear me play, just adds to the experience.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think MP3 distribution, whether it be from a major label or an indie like me, only makes things easier for artisit to let their music be heard. For us who can not afford studio time can independently produce our own albums and still aquire recognition for our work. Major labels should respect the average Joe who wants to download a song, from an artist, because chances are, he's going to find that he likes what he hears and will go an buy the album.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I've never really thought about signing with a major label, as the kind of music I write and perform is hard to fit into any one musical catergory, this would make the journey more difficult and one that i'm not sure would have a happy ending. I write and play for the people who want to hear it.
Band History:
Oregon-native; Robbie Newman, grew up listening to country music from all walks of life. From the early days of bluegrass to the contemporary country music of the 80's and 90's. After picking up a guitar in junior high school, Robbie began writing his own songs and composing the music that accompanies them. Using traditional acoustic guitars up to advanced string compositions; Mr. Newman's music has a knack for bringing out the good and bad in people, starting with his debut single "Sorry" and moving on to "Every time we have to say Goodbye" Robbie Newman's music will continue to please his audiences for years to come using his infectious lyrics, and that great "southern" charm.
Your influences?
I grew up in a family that grew up listening to artists like Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, and all of the other 60's, 70's 80's and 90's country music, I believe this has been one of my major influences, as well as country great, George Strait. Here is a man who isn't afraid to stick to his roots and sing his music for the fans, even in this ever changing swarm of

Favorite spot?
I have a couple favorite places, one being anywhere in the State of Montana, because I am a big fan of nature and the mountain scenery. I also am very fond of Colorado, for it's natural beauty.
