Basically, a burning need for something that's clean, thought-provoking and all around original in hip hop. Something not to be ashamed of because in life we grow and develop into conscientious human beings, not robo-clones of successful prototypes spewing out the same vantage point for the same subject perspective. What is life to you? What does it mean to you? What can you learn from it? What can IT learn from YOU? This is the deeper experience... this is DPA. Enough with that radio childplay, you can call this grown folk music. It's time to build.

We're doing some shows at local bars, church youth events and definitely hip hop elements parties.

The way I see it, the Internet has expanded the territory/reach of the local artist astronomically. Nothing should stop them from being successful as an independent artist with the global reach potential that the Internet presents.

I'm not sure about signing a major record deal. They may seem lucrative up front, but someone's always pocketing off of all your hard work in the end, so we might just keep it independent and deal with our real fans the way they receive us. Some of us already have careers to the point we don't have to sell out our gifts so everyone's happy with what they think is hip hop. This is OUR hip hop, not theirs.

It's been 10 years in the making, but we're really just getting started with this. Basement and attic wannabe recording setups, turntables, sampling mixers, keyboards, a drum machine, tape decks, loads of Maxell tapes with hot beats and freestyles for hours; finally culminating into the concerted effort that we're putting into this craft that we call DPA. It's about the deeper experience, not what the industry wants you to make out of it. This is life and life in its richest and most heartfelt content.

The ol' Def Jux (DJX p2 and prior), any of the deepspace5 artists, Lightheaded, Little Brother and the Justus League, Mass Reality, Cross Movement, Stones Throw, Kev Brown, Oddisee, Tranqwild, Theory Hazit, JULZ, SUNZ, J-Dilla and Bling47, Roxstar of Cream of Beats (thanks for the shout out), The Foreign Exchange, all artists who push the envelope of musical nuances, people who do their own thing and ain't ashamed of it, family, friends, everyday expriences, life, love, pain, agony, construction, destruction... ART. What we know. Most importantly, our Designer: God.

So far, DC, Baltimore, VA, Eastern Shore MD, but basically anyone that shows us love.
