The name came from the Richard Adams novel, Watership Down... Like the rabbits in the novel, the players in the hip hop posse, WATERSHIPDOWN, are fleeing oppression and destruction, and seeking the true essence of freedom... politically and artistically.

WATERSHIPDOWN is an eccentric, eclectic hip hop posse from Central New Jersey. Three Emcees with various backgrounds in punk, hardcore, and hip hop have come together in what began as a series of freestyle rhyme sessions, and has evolved into the musical anomaly, WATERSHIPDOWN.

Gumshu hates rap. He listens to Punk & Hardcore, ranging from Dead Poetic and Finch to Taking Back Sunday and even Cake. He plays guitar in a punk rock band and his favorite band (other than WSD) is Thursday.

Hype likes old school hip hop and punk rock. He began his love affair with hip hop at a very young age, listening to such groups as Run DMC, KRS-1, Chubby Checker & The Fat Boys, Grand Master Flash, and The Beastie Boys. He also likes Alkaline Trio, The Used, and some really pussy-ass pop-punk shit. He sings and plays bass for a Jersey-based punk rock band.

Dryzzl likes hip hop and hardcore. A former guitarrist for a New Jersey Hardcore band, he can be found listening to anything from Sage Francis and Edon to Thursday and Glassjaw. His favorite band of all time is the Deftones.
