Why this name?
We were at a meeting. We realized that we are a family so we decided to call ourselves The New Familia.
Do you play live?
We perform in DC at many different venues. Our special moment was at The Blackout Club. We recieved the #1 spot in contest they were having.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives the indie labels a better chance to compete with the majors.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Band History:
The New Familia, are 8 rapper all Washington DC native. All have been rapping between 10 and 5
years. Their First album will drop this summer "stepping into the industry" in 2004. And will take
DC by surprise with their lyrics and beats.
What separate The New Familia from many other performers. They bring excitment and party
atmosphere to the stage. They love to party. The 8 of them together is like a gift for God. Give them
any beat and there turn it into a HIT. Slow or Fast it's a HIT.
1. Len Smith AKA Swann: The hype man keeps the group hype with his stage present. He brings
everyone to the dance floor.
2. Gary Whitaker AKA JR: The rap pusher also the joker of the group. In the studio and in his lyrics.
3. Ricardo Miller AKA Darkcyde: One of the youngest of the group with his vicious lyrics and his
vicious punch lines
4. Taimyka Green AKA Purple Reign: The lady of the group she keeps it real their nothing studio
