I am a teenage songwriter, i try to capture everything that people say makes high school the greatest time of our lives. I try.
Why this name?
my parents decided to ruin my chances as a businessman. Zac Caldwell, PHD. no ring. zac is a name you use in the context of "zac, don't pass out on the floor.", or "Did you hear the crazy thing Zac did this weekend?".
Do you play live?
i play in the elizabethtown/louisville area. the special moments are when i can really capture what a song is about, and i don't screw it up.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
i think we're gonna go back to more authentic music. more places like soundclick are gonna pop up, internet recording companies will start to come together, people will collaborate over distances (a la the postal service) and the big companies are gonna have to becoem more real to compete.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
a hard question. i might. i want to have access to the company power, bring in some people i want to work with. if i was to sign a contract, it would be so i could write with my heroes, travel more, and help my colleagues out.
Band History:
i started writing in october 02. i finally had a song i could live in the spring of 03. my album was released november 21, 2003, and i have been pushing myself as hard as i can with school and not being able to drive. i hope i can do this forever.
Your influences?
tom waits is my hero, but Everclear made me want to be a musician. Brian webb and john whitaker (the middle men) are friends and mentors of mine.
Favorite spot?
i love to sit outside my house, on the edge of my porch, above the ground. i also love the roof of my good friends house. the promo picture you see was taken there.
Equipment used:
i play whatever i can afford.
Anything else...?
