Nanaki was formed by Mikie Daugherty(Guitar/Keyboard/Programming) and Emma Ryan(Bass/Artwork) in 2001, while Circus World was on hold.
The duo were then joined by Circus World guitarist Steve Halsall and drummer Matt Gell and started to win over audiences with their intense, explosive live performances. The recent addition of a third guitarist, Dan Ankers has added an extra dimension to the bands sound.

The Band have released their debut album 'Fashion Is The Enemy Of All Art' and are currently working on it's follow-up.
Why this name?
Nanaki was a the name of a charcter in a computer game called Final Fantasy VII, which played a large part in our lives during the early days of Circus World.
Do you play live?
Yes, we love it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives small bands the ability to get their music heard, as well as giving fans the chance to hear things before they spend their money.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, although instrumental art-rock isn't the most commercial music.
Your influences?
I guess I'm influenced by everything I hear but some of the obvious ones for Nanaki are Mogwai, The Appleseed Cast, Godspeed You Black Emperor, My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth
