Double Jeopardy consists of two emcees(Phanaam & Hollywoodizm), whose styles vary from fast to slow and from bouncy to laid back. Double Jeopardy is a very versatile group. Their songs vary from underground to commercial, from party to stories, and from wild out to serious.Phanaam is not only an emcee but he is also the producer of the group and is currently working on Double Jeopardy's album "On Our Own".
Why this name?
We came up with the name Double Jeopardy because we both are clever with the lyrical content, and going against one of us would be putting yourself in Jeopardy, so going against both of us would be "Double Jeopardy".
Do you play live?
Not yet
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet changed the music industry for signed and unsigned artist, especially unsigned artist because it helps to promote our music. It also enables us to interact with fans and to incorporate any feedback to enhance our already versatile music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but I(Phanaam) would like to start my own label or produce for major labels and artists.
Band History:
Phanaam & Hollywoodizm met in 1994 and became close friends. Their birthdays are 3 days apart, April 25th(Hollywoodizm) & April 28th(Phanaam). In 1997 Phanaam spent hours making tapes everyday of the summer but kept them private until he let a couple of people hear a song he had made and they loved it. He was tired of rapping over re-cycled beats, so he started making his own. Neither one knew that the other rapped, until Phanaam played a beat and Hollywoodizm started rapping to it. Then Phanaam played a song for Hollywoodizm and Double Jeopardy was formed in 2001.
