The DRIVE is a NYC based, all-girl, alt. garage rock band.

Their music is a distinctive blend of alternative heavy rock, with sprinkles of pop-punk spirit right in tune with contemporary trends. Pounding rhythms, and sweet, yet driving melodies are the trademark of this group of girls.
Why this name?
We went through several names and were even called "Dirty Girl" for a while. Finally, we wanted something that wasn't so blatently screaming GIRL BAND, we wanted something that was more about the core of what we think about in doing music, in our lives, and in the reasons for starting the band. We developed a huge list of possibles and the moment that someone said The DRIVE, everyone said, yea!
Do you play live?
We play mostly NYC clubs at this time. We LOVE to play live and have a great time onstage. Each show is so unique, we play with the crowd, go nuts onstage, and its just a total rush to take the hours of constant rehearsing and turn it into an hour of something with actual purpose and structure.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Sure, its a whole new way to interact beyond the local scene, it gets out your band in a way that was very difficult for indie bands to do before it's explosion onto the scene. Plus, we've had people come to the shows after hearing our songs and learning them, singing them back to us, being a new band, that would be pretty tough without a vehicle like the Internet.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, we totally would. Our goal has and will always be to reach people with our songs, and that's tough to do with limited distribution or support. These songs mean something to us, and we want to have them available in case they could also touch someone else. Signing to a label that could help us do that, would be right on track.
Band History:
The band was established in 2001 when Rachel and Sarah decided to leave a previous project and start a new one. They advertised in the Village Voice in NYC, and found Jea. The three started to play clubs in NYC and eventually decided to add a lead guitarist, Eva. They didn't really plan to make it an all-girl band, it just evolved that way and made sense.

Your influences?
The band was heavily influenced by Nirvana, Babes in Toyland, Hole, Weezer, Radiohead
