The songs here on this page are all part of a solo project. I am just so bored with corporate radio that I decided to pick up my guitar and bass and record some songs that I'd actually enjoy listening to. I hope that others may enjoy the songs, too. I am not currently in a band, so I played all of the instruments and vocals. The band is currently looking for a bass player and a drummer in the Chicago area. Drop me a line if you're interested in joining.
Why this name?
I did not choose it, it choose me
Do you play live?
Yes, but not nearly enough since I am not in a band at the moment. The energy is what keeps me going.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has caught the RIAA completely off guard. They have not forseen the profitability of the mp3 scene and now they're angry. People have stopped updating their records and cassettes to CD, so sales are down and they need someone to blame. The simple truth is that they have lost control. Artists now have the ability to promote and distribute their material without the infamous A&R people and they certaintly do not have to be associated with the negativity of the RIAA. Long story short, it will benefit the true musicians who are in this to make music, money will come with good music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Even though a major label would never be desparate enough to make me an offer, I would decline. Growing up in the punk rock school mindset, I have a trememndous amount of respect for the DIY ethics, and not to sound like some jaded kid, but you can make a living off of music without a major label. Plus you have control over everything. You can play where, when and what you, and more importantly, your fans want. Remember, music is nothing without fans. Plus, if I need a loan, I can always go to the bank.
Band History:
Let's see...I began playing the guitar in 1995. During that time, I got hooked on punk. As I got better playing the guitar, I began writing songs that were simpler and simpler. It doesn't really make any sense. In high school and shortly there after, I played in a handful of local bands. Some never made it out of the basement and some did, but quickly disbanded as members went off to different colleges. So for the past few years I've just been going to school and writing my own stuff. I picked up a bass a few years back, thinking that it would be so easy to play since I was used to the guitar. What a joke that thought was. All of this has led up where we are now. You reading and me playing! In the summer of 2004, I released the first full length album, "Tonight", which is available now. I am not very high tech, so if you want to buy a copy for $6, please send me an email (under contact info) with your info and I'll ship one to you. At the moment, I can only take checks. **The first FIVE requests I get will get a complimentary copy to help promote the record** (offer good until you do not see this message anymore, so you have nothing to lose!) Even after the offer expires, $6 is pretty cheap (about 60 cents a song).
Your influences?
Everything from the Beatles to Wu-Tang Clan. I mostly enjoy the energy and attitude of Punk Rock, but I pretty much listen to everything, except for the Right Wing Country Music.
Favorite spot?
Chicago, IL and the entire suburb region, because that's where I spend most of my time.
Equipment used:
Well, I use an Ibanez RG1570 for my guitar, with an occassional stint on my accoustic (it's a Gibson rip off). On Bass, I use an ESP 5 string. I use an AKG C3000B condenser mic to record vocals. I also use 2 Shure sm57's to record the guitars and bass. I just got a M-Audio 410 Firewire interface to record vocals, guitars and bass. I use a whole pile of software to get everything done. I also use Trojan condoms!
Anything else...?
Once again, do not hesitate to email me if you want to start up a band or want a copy of the record "Tonight". Work is still in progress for the next album, "Punk is Dead". Most of the recording will be done around the beginning of the year (05), and look for the release in late April or early May of 2005.
