If you were to describe this 20 year old and his music, you can describe him as life itself. Life is never guaranteed and you are always wondering what the creator has in store for you. Eshoo (Ryan Perez) has that same attribute; people will never know what he will bring next. His music is versatile and dynamic. When you listen to each of his songs, each of them has its own unique identity but still has his signature so that you know it’s a “Barnun track” His whole goal is to separate himself from the rest of the artistes in Calgary as far as his authentic style. If you know him personally you can see that his music is the sound track of his life.
He is born and raised in Calgary, Alberta with his two other sisters. His parents emigrated from Trinidad and Tobago to live a better lifestyle like most Caribbean people. He could remember as baby being exposed to Afro American music at a young age. His love for Hip hop is was planted in him when he was baby in his crib because his dad was constantly playing that type of music the early 80’s. His dad was one of the pioneers of hip hop in Calgary, for example: His dad was the first to open a hip hop clothing store called body and soul. He also was the first Albertan to have the rights to sell the source magazine which is very popular in the world today. His dad brought hip hop acts like ice T and Fresh prince to Calgary. So with all this exposure Eshoo (Ryan Perez) knew that he wanted to delve the music industry.
He started promoting when 16 years old, teaming up with DJ FRESH and ANTHONY MCCLANAHAN (ex, Stampede) and on fire for life Camp, He helped promote and run a successful event called all age event called XJAM. Then he teamed up with BOOM INTERNATIONAL RECORDS and where he helped promote and run the after club called Pepper fields (known as the ZAMBUKA LOUNGE). During that time he started his Own business making club flyers (SIMBA GRAPHICS AND DISTRIBUTING) at age 17.
He continued to job shadow and help assist a talent agency called Multi Talent Agency. While this was going on, Eshoo was getting in to trouble and was a victim to the court system. He knew he had to get out and change the way his life was going so he teamed up with the African Caribbean United Foundation of Alberta. This group helped mentor him and get him out of the system. He then changed his life and became a youth representative for the Black youth, and is now a devoted mentor to help guide youth to success.
