cynkh is a one-man project by Scott Smith, former keyboard player for The Signifying Monkey and Sera Eclipsed. It's mainly an outlet for electronic compositions created outside of the group Impossible Toys. Based in Buffalo, NY; it is influenced quite a bit by members of our local music scene including City of God, Burn Like Nero, Tote Stadt and Mark Webb. Be sure to check out other Buffalo electronic artists.
Why this name?
The cynkh monicker has a couple of aspects: first, it rhymes with "sync"-- which is kind of a no-brainer with electronic-based music; second, it is spelled relative to the Egyptian "ankh"-- which I merely hope is a good omen.
Do you play live?
Currently, I only create the songs in a live environment; however, they have not yet been performed live as cynkh.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Considering the loose structure of most of my material, it's more a question of "would a major label sign a contract with me?". If the creative element were left entirely with me and not controlled by a label then yes, I would sign a contract.
