iLLmacuLate is iLL
Why this name?
i chose iLLmaculate cuz i seen that immaculate meant ya know Perfect or lackin error. i added the prefix od ILL. cuz i feel i wanna aspire to that level of being Perfectly "ill" ya feel me? ya know lacking error. thas my goal..is it acheivable? u never know.
Do you play live?
Yeah ive done shows. i opened up for slick rick. that was pretty tight. Big Crowd. but the biggest crowds i prolly performed i front of would have to be when i won 2 emcee battles. the first was a hiphop type contest where battles were taking place in the hiphop elements (Except for graff) the emcee battle was a freestyle battle competition. it was my first time freestyling in front of a crowd. but i ended up winning both the 1st place medal and a 1,000$. that was tight gotta lot of recognition and respect for that. alot of doors opened then. also i won another mmore recent freestyle competition at a local car show (The Euro import car show) i took 1st place again and won 500$. that was pretty nice. ive also done miscelanous performances in front of college crowds and at my school dances.(i know it sounds lame but it was pretty krunk)i feel pretty confident in front of the masses
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Definately. The internet exposes alot of new talent to the masses. you can click and see someone who without that access to the net you would have klnown existed. the net can be a big role in developing a fan base.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Honestly it depends on the contractual agreement. But if all was in my best interest and there was no personal disliking with the label or it's artists then of course i would. i see a major label as a tool. With the right resources (Such as a major label) i feel my music can reach that many more heads. which is ultimately my goal. to reach people and give them this message. give them this hiphop. give them this realness, rawness and intensity.
Band History:
i would like to look at myself as somewhat of an experienced emcee. i have been in front of crowds and am comfortable in those settings.i am very comfortable with my writing ability, and delivery. My Freestyle is no joke either. ask anyone i've battled...(haha)
Your influences?
At first i think canibus had an impact on me. Because he was the 1st underground i listened to. he shifted my musical preference to underground cats. becuz before bis i hadnt heard such a raw emcee, with that hunger and intensity. now i listen to thought-provoking material as well as battle. such as Talib Kweli-Mos Def-Common-Dead Prez-Bis-Chino XL-2pac...but right now i'd honestly have to say (no matter how cliche this may sound) that eminem has really influenced me. he brought a whole new audience to hiphop. and his new CD is real nyce. he has grown from jsut the white rapper of controversy to someone with a message and who has also seemingly grown as a person. i dont know his shyt just kinda inspires me.
