The Furious Guitar is the new millenium's first great rock instrumental album. It was written, produced and engineered by the reclusive madman Michael Trapp a.k.a. The Alien Mike E.T., a.k.a. Captain Freak. It's over an hour of mind-numbing guitar playing from heavy, driving rock songs to beautiful, melodic ballads. Think what if Steve Vai, Metallica, King Crimson, Ozzy, Sabbath, Nirvana, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Van Halen and Frank Zappa were all thrown in a blender with some Tequila and strawberries. That just BEGINS to tell the story...
Hold on to your hats... cause the rollercoaster is going off the tracks...
Why this name?
Why The Alien Mike E.T.? Hmmm, I guess because I feel so alien in the current boring as hell state of rock and roll.
Do you play live?
No current touring band... though I've played in about 12 different touring bands in the past... all with various success.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It frees up the audience from the stranglehold of the stale, play it safe music industry. They wouldn't know a good band if they f***ing fell on them.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Highly doubt it. I can't STAND being told what or how to play.
Your influences?
Anybody with some talent and someting to say. The Beatles/John Lennon, Steve Vai, Yes, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin, Shakti, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Nirvana, Sex Pistols, Focus, Charles Ives, Bela Bartok, Igor Stravinsky, Steve Morse, Van Halen, Genesis, Kate Bush, Shankar, Spock's Beard, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, John Coltrane, Miles Davis
Favorite spot?
Sober Sucks Studios. All I need is a guitar and sequencer and you won't see me for DAYS.
Equipment used:
Steinberger and Carvin Guitars, Line6 HD147 amp, Korg TritonLE Music Workstation, Pro Tools MBox
