Formed in mid 2001, ERODED PRIDE is a combination of varying musical styles, diverse influences & backgrounds. Combining thumping drum beats, dark, thought-provoking lyrics, atmospheric keyboards, guitar laden heavy metal & sampling, ERODED PRIDE creates a soundscape that will invade your mind space.
Why this name?
As homage to Alice In Chains
Do you play live?
not at the moment but things could change.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
This is a complex issue. we as a band see it as a tool to help put us and our music out there to people whom would not hear us otherwise. On the flipside, an established artist with the music industry's promotional engine behind it, wouldn't see the need to have a more personal approach to fans and would see it as a lose of money. Personally, I feel that it like anything else that helps a band from the beginning, has it's place. When we make it to the big time, I have already promised myself to never forget those that have helped us, and sites like Soundclick I feel deserve as much of a push from us as we got from them.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
if it was the right deal.
Band History:
Formed in mid summer 2001 by JIMMIE JONES, with his first solo composition EARLY WARNING. With this song Jimmie recruited JUAN FLORES, former guitarist from Jimmie's earlier project DARK INTENT, to play guitar and do backing vocals. KHRISTINE HANSEN-JONES was then brought in to the fold to play keyboards and operate the sampler. The final key to the line-up was TRAVIS BARBIE on drums.
The original line-up played several shows before heading into the studio to record their first demo. Upon entering the studio, Travis left the band to pursue other interests. The band finished the recordings with Jimmie doing the drum work, releasing the self-produced album EROSION FACTORY (named after the computer used for recording).
The band began playing shows again, with Khristine taking on the responsibility of cueing the drum recordings through the sampler. Several shows later, Juan left to pursue a solo career.
Jimmie and Khristine pushed forward and ERODED PRIDE was signed by independent record label JETSPEED RECORDS GROUP in May of 2004. Jimmie and Khristine recorded the album SURVIVING RENO (The Biggest Little Headache) with producer / engineer PATRICK BURKHOLDER (POWERMAN 5000 / UNION UNDERGROUND) at MASTER GROOVES STUDIOS in Los Angeles. Two months before recording, Jimmie had to learn how to play guitar for doing the recordings.
MATT COUNCIL was brought in to replace Juan on guitar and backing vocals during live performances and left the band after a brief west coast tour.
The band took almost a full two years from doing anything as they dealt with personal problems and the lawsuit against JETSPEED RECORDS GROUP for breach of contract.
As of late the band has reclaimed the rights to their music in the settlement with JETSPEED RECORDS GROUP and added Guitarist TIM GERTCH.
Currently I (Jimmie Jones) am the only current member of ERODED PRIDE, playing and recording all the musical parts myself. 2009 will be a promising year so stay tuned.
