Do you play live?
I'm now playing keyboards and doing vocals with several acts in the Montgomery, AL area. I love to play live and although I can't rip up the keyboard yet - I'm working on it! Whatever it takes to get out there and make music!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it's great. Many artists feel like they are losing something by their music being available for free via the internet, but I really think it will be healthy for the entire industry. While radio has gotten to the point of force feeding people what the major labels want you to buy, you can now go out and see for yourself what is available to you.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely. Nothing wrong with that as long as everyone involved gets what they want out of the deal. There are still good deals being signed, and great artists on major labels. It's awfully scary though, when you see these great bands getting signed and their big hit is all over the radio, everybody buys the record, and then, it seems to me, right when the band has sold enough records to repay the label for it's initial investment and is in a position to actually make some money for themselves, they get dropped and the next big hit gets signed and the game continutes. But artistically speaking, from a musician's point of view, is that really so bad?? Hmmm.
Your influences?
My influences are so diverse, but it's created an interesting perspective on music and sound. I really dig the singer/songwriter genre. Artists like Steve Earl, David Wilcox, Dylan, Springsteen, Todd Snider, etc. But then, Led Zep, Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Lynyrd Skynrd....on and on...to Kid Rock, know the power of a great song, too.
Equipment used:
At the moment my main live instrument is a Yamaha Motif ES6. At home I use an Alesis 88 weighted key piano, I think it's an 8.2.
