Why this name?
First off, my initial are IB middle is P. So IBP. IBProfane is just a spin-off of some Ibprofin. My sh*** can numb your brain...fix any pain you might be dealin with.
Do you play live?
So far just open mics. Never rocked an actual hip-hop show/event.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it helps underground cats get their sh*** out there...you know, people that just wanna make music, for the love of it. I think we got alot of creative cats out here without contacts in the industry just trying to do their thing. I think it's a good way for dope artists to get exposure, get some light.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Most likely know...a big indy label I would definitely be happen with.
Band History:
Profane grew up nearly his entire life in Salt Lake City, Utah. There wasn't much hip-hop or rap around him in general. His first taste of came in the form of Snoop Dogg's "Doggystyle" tape which his next door neighbor copied for him. IB really got into hip-hop in '98-'99 when his brothers introduced him to more lyrical MC's. He started listening to Black Star, Redman, Nas, Keith Murray, Canibus and others. From there he just expanded and listened to more and more MC's. In 1999, he decided it was time to start writing. He penned his first rhyme under the name MC Mathematical which was a 16 bar battle rhyme. He continued writing simple battle rhymes for months. He then started to record little 1 minute battle songs over Raekwon's "Incarcerated Scarfaces". He then went on to use other instrumentals writing more battle rhymes. In 2000, IB dropped the mixtape "The E Files" under the name Mr. E which he gave to family and friends. Despite growth Profane went a few years without really doing much recording, but during this time began to get really involved with politics, and political issues. 2002, brought Profane to Ashland, OR where he currently hails from. That same year, his interest for writing/recording was re-kindled when he bought Non Phixion "The Future is Now". It was like anything he had heard before and inspired him to go back and write deeper, more meaningful lyrics. Profane has since been penning current event laced rhymes on anything and everything. He's written not only rhymes, but also poetry and spoken word. He's even started writing a TV show and a movie. Profane has been recording tracks here and there over the last couple years and is poised to put his name in the game. Profane is currently working on a "The Overdose Mix Tape" scheduled to drop in January '06. He's also in the studio writing and recording him upcoming full length debut CD "100% Proof" expected to drop October 10th, 2006 on Market Cornered Records. The album will feature production from Konsickwence along with Profane himself. The album will also feature collaborations with a variety of other artists/producers.
