play lo-fi play hi-fi  Run for Your Money
It was only about two or three years ago I got my first real taste of hip-hop. After being stuck under strict rules about the music I listen to, I had grown wrestless and started buying hip-hop records on the low. The first hip-hop record I ever bought was Stankonia and that sh*** just blew my mind. It was like nothing I had ever heard before. It totally changed my expectation for what a record should sound like. But sadly, the way of the artist began to die and the reign of the commercial puppet started to take form. More and more so-called hip-hop artists started to become more concerned with getting paid than with making groundbreaking music. You know what they say about a copy of a copy, and the recycling of style has left hip-hop rendered in a state of vulnerability. My only goal as a producer/artist in this game is to destroy hip-hop as it is known now and start back at square one; when everyone had their own style and every rhyme conveyed meaning and significance. This commercial rap can die and be found no more. I take it upon myself to lay waste to anyone's career who is in the game soly for the cash. It's time for a revolution. It's been quite some time since someone has really broke the mold, so to speak, in this genre of music, and I'm ready with my sledge hammer to smash the sh*** out the mold.
Why this name?
No one can be told who Mr. Jhook is. You have to listen to the music and find out your damn self.
Do you play live?
I record at home, where the heart is; where my music comes from.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet changes sh*** alot for those who give two shits about the money and for everyone on the underground, who otherwise, probably would remain unknown.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yeah I'd sign a record contract. I don't like money, but I still need it to live this country and to do what I love to do( produce and record).
Band History:
I have produced 1 album which was almost entirely experimental on a recording front. Musically ever project I do is an experiment; aint no xeroxing out this bi***.
Your influences?
Well, as if it wasn't obvious, Outkast is my biggest influence. Some other notable influences are Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Melle Man, and in some aspects Kanye West.
Favorite spot?
Well I haven't been everywhere, but I gotta hold down my city.
Equipment used:
Now everyone knows any great magician never reveals his secrets. Find your own way of making music. Develope the game, don't bastardize it.
Anything else...?
O yeah, and everyone who doubts me now, I just would like to ask of you one favor; when you see me on Mtv cribs or How I'm Livin', don't forget to write my fan club and tell me what my balls taste like, ok.
