Southern California's newest thrilling live rock band has been unearthed!!!AWOL STAR rocks the stage with a barrage of exploding guitar rifts, unforgettable melodies, and catchy driving hooks. Coming from a diverse background and fueled with a torch of passion, AWOL STAR was born to take the stage and detonate!! Their songs cover life's everyday triumphs and hardships. They have been in obscurity for too long, and with years of experience and a lifetime of influence, this SoCal trio is ready to shed their radiance using the music they love to play.
Why this name?
That's the funny thing, WE don't even know where it came from!
Do you play live?
Damn right we play live! Is there any other reason or way to play? We are an explosion of energy on the stage and we can only thank the people for that. We cover our backyard pretty well which include: The Majestic Ventura Theatre, Cal State Channel Islands, The C.I.A Hollywood, Easy Street Arena, Cafe on "A", Oxnard P.A.L., Oxnard Boys and girls Club, the list goes on...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Shit, if it wasn't for the internet, would you be reading this? The accesibility and the coverage of music has been expanded to reach the average Joe. Revolution.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
F*** yeah! You would be lying if you said no. This isn't about image, selling out, killing the music, it's about getting heard. A major label is the ultimate tool to exposure, don't forget that.
Band History:
Nothing amazing like a ray of light hit us and when we woke we were reborn to...ya know? It's simple, three guys that love music so why not play it? Growing up in Oxnard, it was tough to do anything with all the violence around the neighborhood. That's how we found refuge in music.
Your influences?
It's weird really. We love to play our songs cuz we love the sound, but it's not our only influence. Yeah there are Pop Punk influences like, MXPX, Lit, Blink 182, Green Day, New Found Glory, and such, but we also come from a Hip Hop, Funk, Motown, Metal, Spanish, and Alternative background. We hate labels but we have a very LEFT COAST PUNK sound.
Favorite spot?
THE STAGE!!!!
Equipment used:
As far as equipment we are simply a guitar, a bass, and drums. Some of the best things come in threes ya know what I mean!?
