Originally from ATL, this emcee now resides in Panama City. The premier emcee from S.W.A.T., Jamal STEELE displays an incredible talent for rhyme and wordplay.
Why this name?
My first name was J-STEELE, because of my STEEL hard rhymes, but as I got older, I wanted a more business minded name, so I added Jamal because my real name(Jamil) is always mispronounced "Jamal".
Do you play live?
I Only did 1 live performance. This was back in 2000 and I just blacked out and bust a freestyle instead of the verse I wrote and everyone WILD OUT! That's when the "legend" of Jamal STEELE began. Cats in the city I live was always approachin' me, askin' when the album's droppin'
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows up-and-coming artists to get their material out in a way that it can accesible WORLDWIDE! I love it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
OF COURSE, but I also would like to start my own label.
