Mist of the Maelstrom is my doom-metal solo project from Rochester, NY.
Why this name?
The mist of the maelstrom lies on the very edge of chaos...
Do you play live?
Nope. That would be a bit impossible.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's vital for projects like this one. As for the rest, it still gets more people listening to more music, instead of the filth that pollutes the radio waves. Without the radio as the hub of musical exposure, people are more free to explore, so tastes diversify and less marketable styles of music still can be heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Major labels don't sign doom bands, generally. But if some doom label came along, I'd be interested.
Band History:
I wrote some songs. Then I played them.
Your influences?
Have a gander at the "sounds like..." thing. Most of those bands.
Equipment used:
Peavey 5150 Combo amplifier, Squier Strat, Behringer Mic100 preamp, Shure SM57 microphone, MXL V63M microphone, some mic stand or other (instead of the boot that I used to use), various cables, picks, strings, a small crystal wine glass, some water for tuning, several different 120v AC wall sockets, and a whole hell of a lot of electrons.
Anything else...?
