Originally formed in 1998, Odessa Denial has returned to the Toronto music scene with a revamped lineup and a greater purpose than ever before. The original lineup dabbled into other music styles and continue to do so in other bands, however singer / guitarist Jay decided to keep the project going on his own and did so until 2004, as there seemed to be a need for a band like Odessa Denial more than ever in the stagnant music scene which is being tubefed to us on the radio and even on our televisions.

We will remind everyone that music is thought provoking and makes us feel emotions, which are being taken away from something so pure by manufactured, packaged and stamped pop bands and bubble gum punk bands who's mere purpose is to boost lagging cd sales in the record industry. Odessa Denial is a unique mix of metal, alternative, punk and progressive metal influenced by A Perfect Circle, Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Deftones, Filter, Foo Fighters, Iggy And The Stooges, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Pantera, Pink Floyd, Portishead, Queens Of The Stoneage, Sonic Youth, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cure, The Doors, The Smashing Pumpkins and Tool just to name a few. The music is driven by emotion rather than technical perfection. We choose not to be perfect because perfection is unachievable, but to make you feel something through sheer raw emotion.

We will be playing electric sets and acoustic sets, as the music has alot of depth and room to grow and change every time we play the songs. We also do alot of improvisation based on the emotions and energy at that one moment in time. The simple fact is that we have come back to show the world that music, real music, can still be moving, emotional and thought provoking and has an unmistakable purity that cannot be taken away. We want to form a community atmosphere that was present in the early 90s music scene which nurtured the songs, bands and musicians that were and still are so important to so many of us, but take it one step further and not allow that community to fall apart.
